This Privacy Policy explains what information Hoop Resume collects when you use the site at hoopresume.com, why we collect it, and how it is stored.

1. Who we are
Hoop Resume is an independent, fan-made NBA trivia game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NBA or any of its teams. For any privacy-related question you can reach us via the Contact page.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Account information (optional)
You can play Hoop Resume as a guest without creating an account. If you choose to sign in, you can register with an email + password or with Google. In that case we store:
- Your email address.
- A display name and, if you sign in with Google, your Google-provided profile info (name, avatar).
- An internal user identifier used to associate your saved progress with your account.
Authentication is handled by our backend provider. Passwords are never stored in plain text and are never visible to us.
2.2 Game data
When you play, we store the state needed to make the game work: solved players, level progression, best runs, streaks, statistics per game mode, difficulty feedback you submit, in-game preferences, and — for signed-in users — a cloud-synced copy of that state so you can continue on another device.
2.3 Feedback you send
If you submit feedback through the in-app feedback form, we store the subject, message, category, and technical context (current route, app version, browser user-agent). If you are signed in, your display name and email are attached to the message so we can reply. Guests may optionally provide an email address.
2.4 Analytics (only if you consent)
With your consent to the "Statistics" cookie category, we load Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage of the site (page views, popular game modes, device type). GA is configured with IP anonymization. It does not run at all until you accept it in the cookie banner. See our Cookie Policy for details.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not show advertising and do not use advertising or marketing cookies.
- We do not build profiles about you for advertising purposes.
- We do not share your account data with third parties, except the infrastructure providers strictly needed to run the site (authentication and database hosting).
4. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)
- Contract — to provide the account, save your progress, and sync across devices.
- Legitimate interest — to keep the site secure and to answer feedback you send us.
- Consent — for the Statistics cookie category (Google Analytics). You can withdraw consent at any time from "Cookie Settings" in the footer.
5. Data retention
- Guest progress lives only in your browser storage and stays until you clear it.
- Account and cloud-synced progress are kept while your account is active.
- Feedback messages are kept as long as they are useful for improving the game.
- Analytics data is retained according to the default Google Analytics 4 retention period.
6. Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data associated with your account by contacting us via the Contact page. You can also reset local progress at any time from the in-app Settings page.
7. Children
Hoop Resume is a general-audience trivia game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. External links
The site links to third-party services such as Ko-fi (for optional support) and our social profiles on YouTube, Instagram, and X. Once you follow those links, you are subject to those services' own privacy policies.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
